Lauren Burk Racial Killing Ignored by Press

Courtney Lockhart, 23, of Smiths Station has been charged with capital murder in death of Auburn freshman Lauren Burk, Auburn police said Saturday. Specifically Lockhart is charged with capital murder during a kidnapping; capital murder during a robbery; and capital murder during an attempted rape, according to a police statement.

He was convicted in Nov. 2010 and the jury recommended life in prison. It's are to get blacks on any jury to recommend a death sentence for another black. But Yet while the press has made note that he is an " Iraq War Veteran," they hid the fact he is black. His mother got on the witness stand an apologized for her son. His sentencing won't be until January 23, 2011.

What was his defence for his rape and robbery crime spree? To quote the Atlanta Journal Constitution Nov. 18,

Lockhart had pleaded not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect. The defense said he demonstrated symptoms of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, although examinations failed to diagnose Lockhart with the problem...Lethal injection or life without the possibility of parole were the only two options the jury had after reaching its verdict...The eight men and four women deliberated for six and a half hours before finding Lockhart guilty. The jury, made up of three blacks and nine whites...

Lockhart was arrested in Phoenix City Friday after a high-speed chase. According to WRBL News 3, Lockhart admitted to investigators that he committed at least five armed robberies in the area in recent weeks. In addition, Lockhart is wanted in connection with an attempted carjacking and armed robbery in Newnan, Ga.

He faced charges of armed robbery, aggravated assault, kidnapping, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, the Times-Herald reported.

Major Findings

There is more black-on-white than black-on-black violent crime.

Of the approximately 1,700,000 interracial crimes of violence involving blacks and whites, 90 percent are committed by blacks against whites. Blacks are therefore up to 250 times more likely to do criminal violence to whites than the reverse.

Blacks commit violent crimes at four to eight times the white rate. Hispanics commit violent crimes at approximately three times the white rate, and Asians at one half to three quarters the white rate.

Blacks are twice as likely as whites to commit hate crimes.

Hispanics are a hate crime victim category, but not a perpetrator category. Hispanic offenders are classified as whites, which inflates the white offense rate and gives the impression that Hispanics commit no hate crimes. (In Tennessee Hispanics are counted as white.)

In number of hate crimes and crime in general committed by Hispanics have been blamed on whites in the national statistics.
