Czech President Blasts Climate Change is Propaganda

Vaclav Klaus on man-made (anthropogenic) global warming:
"Global warming is a false myth and every serious person and scientist says so."

by Lewis Loflin

Vaclav Klaus knows the evils of socialism first hand growing up in communist Czechoslovakia and is today president of the free Czech Republic. He has been sounding the alarm on what is a new effort by the discredited left to impose their socialist' utopia. Under the guise of manmade global warming, they hope for the de-facto government seizure of all private industry and massive taxes to redistribute wealth.

He correctly points out that the IPCC is not a scientific but political body. The so-called "scientists" were sent to represent the political views of their governments, and most were not climate scientist according to Dr. John Christi who was on the panel. The report was written by less than 30 people. I like President Klaus as a fellow classical liberal.

To quote from President Klaus:

"Environmentalism is indeed a vehicle for bringing us socialist government at the global level. Again, my life in communism makes me oversensitive in this respect. The argumentation of various environmentalists is very similar to what we used to know in the past."
"I don't think that the environmentalists are "the trillionaires who want to rule the world". I am afraid the environmentalists want to rule the world without being capable to earn those trillions because it requires to work very hard. The global warming propaganda is, I agree, similar to the Avian flu propaganda, the Y2K propaganda, the end of resources propaganda, the overpopulation propaganda, etc. Their proposals will not increase the globalisation of human activities, they are in favour of global governance only. This is something very different. I am in favour of the first globalisation, not of the second one."
"Environmentalism, not preservation of nature (and of environment), is a leftist ideology. Some people, who pretend to be on the right, bought into it as well - to my great regret."
"There are huge material (very pecuniary) and even bigger psychological incentives for politicians and their bureaucratic fellow-travellers to support environmentalism. It gives them power. This is exactly what they are searching for. It gives them power to organise, regulate, manipulate the rest of us. There is nothing altruistic in their environmentalist stances."
"The "rational libertarians" (I don't mind being called classical liberal) should stop being just a silent majority. They should speak out, as well as speak up. They should reveal the real dangers connected with environmentalism. As the subtitle of my recent book "What is Endangered: Climate or Freedom?" suggests, I believe that it is freedom which is endangered. And freedom is more than eventual, relatively mild climate changes."

This mass system of controls would increase the wealth and power of the bureaucratic class of white-collar parasites. They produce nothing and feed off societies and people like leeches. I remember when I was stationed in West Berlin and visited East Berlin where the only stores that ever had any decent food were those for party members and Westerners. The "workers" waited in line for a few rotten potatoes they were lucky to get. They endured much of the same rhetoric we get from the global warming socialists of today. It was scarcity for the common good, in particular the "party."

To quote Spero News March 10, 2007

Vaclav Klaus is President of the Czech Republic and warned that environmentalists who claim to advocate policy changes to combat so-called global warming "only pretend" to promote environmental protection. "Environmentalism should belong in the social sciences," said President Klaus, along with other "isms" such as communism, feminism, and liberalism. President Klaus said that "environmentalism is a religion" that seeks to change peoples' habits and economic systems...

"Global warming is a false myth and every serious person and scientist says so. It is not fair to refer to the U.N. panel. The IPCC is not a scientific institution: it's a political body, a sort of non-government organization of green flavor. It's neither a forum of neutral scientists nor a balanced group of scientists. These people are politicized scientists who arrive there with a one-sided opinion and a one-sided assignment."

On June 13 2007 in the Financial Times:

The author Michael Crichton stated it clearly: "the greatest challenge facing mankind is the challenge of distinguishing reality from fantasy, truth from propaganda". I feel the same way, because global warming hysteria has become a prime example of the truth versus propaganda problem. It requires courage to oppose the "established" truth, although a lot of people - including top-class scientists - see the issue of climate change entirely differently. They protest against the arrogance of those who advocate the global warming hypothesis and relate it to human activities.

As someone who lived under communism for most of his life, I feel obliged to say that I see the biggest threat to freedom, democracy, the market economy and prosperity now in ambitious environmentalism, not in communism. This ideology wants to replace the free and spontaneous evolution of mankind by a sort of central (now global) planning.

The environmentalists ask for immediate political action because they do not believe in the long-term positive impact of economic growth and ignore both the technological progress that future generations will undoubtedly enjoy, and the proven fact that the higher the wealth of society, the higher is the quality of the environment. They are Malthusian pessimists...

Klaus Disputed

To quote, Czech president derogates UN global-warming panel (Europe News Feb 9, 2007),
...Vaclav Klaus has criticized the UN panel on global warming, claiming that it was a political authority without any scientific basis...'These are politicized scientists who arrive there with one-sided opinion and assignment...The IPCC report, compiled by some 600 scientists from 40 countries, said it is 'very likely' that man-made greenhouse gases have caused the rise in temperatures, reflecting a 90-per-cent certainty in the scientific community and an upgrade from a 'likely,' or two-thirds certainty given in the last IPCC report six years ago...

Excuse me, they claimed it was 2000 "scientists" when only 600 and they still refuse to fund alternative studies. What are they scared of? Where is the science and not computer models anyone can manipulate? I don't doubt global warming, it's been going on since the Little Ice Age ended in the 19th century. Thus it's normal.
