Is this Google Censorship?

This website has no paid staff and has been published as a public service for over since 1998. But there are costs for the domain, web hosting, etc. to keep away from popups, I do not put "cookies" into a visitor's web browser, or load the pages with popup advertising. The information is presented free for the public to use as they wish, the product of thousands of hours of volunteer work. I'm glad to do it regardless.

The problem now is Google has been accused of launching a campaign of "censorship" and pressuring publishers to adhere to arbitrary and subjective rules on content. Thus even if one quotes mainstream news sources, etc. this can now be deemed "violence" or "racist" or whatever their people deem violates Adsense policy.

To a point this is understandable. Advertisers don't want their ads on controversial pages that may leave them open to attack. They are not saying remove any webpages or material, simply remove Google code because the subject material distracts from the ad content or creates problems for the advertiser.

But where does this end? This is what we now face. Quoting Jayson Veley May 10, 2017:

One of the most dangerous words in America today is the word “offensive,” not because it’s used to describe something that hurts one’s feelings, but because of how it is used by the progressive Left. It goes without saying that the word “offensive” is a subjective term that can mean many different things to many different people; what Sally finds offensive may not be offensive to Joe, and vice versa. Because of the term's lack of definition, it is up to us to give it definition. This is dangerous because it invites people to use the word in a way that best suits their own biases or agendas...

Americans should be very weary whenever they see a company or an organization announce plans to combat offensive language. Entities, just like individuals, have their own political agendas, and often justify silencing the opposition by claiming to be combating "offensive speech."

Google and its employees have a big political agenda and has been accused of racism itself for lack of "diversity".

This is where it becomes subjective and easily abused for censorship in particular the last dozen or so words:

Content that incites hatred against, promotes discrimination of, or disparages an individual or group on the basis of their race or ethnic origin, religion, disability, age, nationality, veteran status, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, or other characteristic that is associated with systemic discrimination or marginalization.

But what is "hatred" supposed to mean? Standing up for tradition or Western Culture has now become racist and thus promoting hate according to some.

So at this point I'm removing Adsense code from many of my webpages. I must ask for donations.

One can donate through Paypal by clicking the button above. Whether one donates or not, thanks for visiting and come back. I may be contacted by e-mail at lewis@bvu.net. Again, thanks for visiting.
