Indoor Marijuana Grow Operation Harvested In Washington County

Here is another sad case of a child being removed from a home due to illegal drugs.

May 1, 2013 According to Sheriff Ed Graybeal, Washington County Sheriff's Office Investigators working on a one week investigation have shut down an extensive indoor Marijuana grow operation. The Criminal Interdiction Unit received an anonymous tip regarding the indoor Marijuana grow and upon making contact with Richard William Baldwin, age 37, 381 Possum Hollow Road #3, Gray; a search was completed on the residence where the Marijuana Grow was located. A second adult subject: April Richardson, age 28, was also in the home.

Investigators located 52 Marijuana plants in various stages of growth with a value at maturity of $52,000.00 in the residence along with 8.8 ounces of processed Marijuana and various items of drug paraphernalia. It was discovered that the couple's infant child was also living in the residence and the Department of Children's Services responded for placement of the child pending the conclusion of the investigation.

Richard William Baldwin is charged with Maintaining a Dwelling where Controlled Substances are Used, Sold or Manufactured; Manufacture of Marijuana, Child Abuse and Neglect, Possession of Marijuana for Resale and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

April Richardson is charged with Maintaining a Dwelling where Controlled Substances are Used, Sold or manufactured; Manufacture of Marijuana, Child Abuse and Neglect, Possession of Marijuana for Resale and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

The Investigation is ongoing and anyone with information on this marijuana grow operation or any other marijuana grow is asked to contact the Washington County Sheriff's Office at (423) 788-1414.

Richard William Baldwin and April Richardson are currently being housed at the Washington County Detention Center under a $22,000.00 bond. Both are scheduled for appearance in the Washington County Sessions Court on Thursday May 2, 2013 at 1:30pm.
