Jabrial Odeal Adams Breaks Probation, Quickly Returned to Jail
Thursday, 21 April 2011 According to the Houston County, GA Da's Office:
Jabrial Odeal Adams, 20, of 2110 Elberta Road, Warner Robins, Georgia, had his sentence revoked today for seven and a half years. Adams was on probation for charges of Serious Injury by Vehicle, DUI, Reckless Driving, and Driving with a Suspended License.
He entered a plea on those charges on October 21, 2010 and was sentenced to 8 years and required to serve 120 days in the Houston County Jail. Adams was released from the Houston County Jail on that sentence on February 16, 2011.
On March 4, 2011, sixteen days after being released from jail, at approximately 12:30 p.m., the defendant was seen driving by a probation officer. Believing correctly that the defendant did not have a valid driver's license, the probation officer requested assistance from the Warner Robins Police Department.
When a WRPD officer responded, they found Adams in a car in a parking lot. Adams at first denied driving, but when confronted with the probation officer who witnessed him driving, ultimately admitted to driving.
When taken into custody for the suspended license charge, the WRPD officer could smell marijuana. After being searched, Adams produced a sandwich bag which contained 16 individual baggies that had been tied inside his shorts. This was within 100 feet of a housing development property.
The Superior Court determined that the defendant had violated his probation by a new felony offense of Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute and a misdemeanor offense of Driving with a Suspended License. He also violated special conditions of probation prohibiting him from engaging in illegal driving or from possessing any illegal substances.
COMMENTS FROM CHIEF ASSISTANT DISTRICT ATTORNEY AMY E. SMITH:
"Our office is serious about removing dangerous individuals from the street. Adams already injured a family member by DUI. That he would completely disregard the Court's order and society's laws just two weeks after being released from jail exhibits his total lack of concern for anyone but himself.
The State has determined that he is a danger behind the wheel, but he continues to drive despite being told repeatedly not to do so. This is how innocent victims get killed.
Adams combines drug offenses with illegal driving. We believe that this blatant disregard for society deserves the seven and a half years that he has now been sentenced to serve."
