Racist Attacks on Asians During the LA Riots

There is no institutional racism except against whites and to a growing extent against Asians. How many Asian stores were destroyed during the LA riots?

The cultural differences and success of Korean Americans raised intense resentment towards their culture as they were the primary targets during the riots. Koreans were considered the "model minority" as they possessed great business success in Koreatown as small grocery and liquor stores. Blacks targeted Korean Americans, for they felt economic inequality in a nation that is considered their own. Tension had been simmering between African Americans and Koreans in Los Angeles for decades.

Such conflict included the lack of the perceived exploitation and racism of the black community by Koreans, the Korean's failure to hire blacks, the robbing and shootings of Koreans by blacks, and racist attitudes of blacks with regard to Korean immigrants. Korean Americans were perceived as rude, linguistically limited foreigners who exploited the black community.

They were often depicted as racists, as in Ice Cube's rap song 'Black Korea' displays: "Look you little Chinese motherfucker - I ain't trying to steal none of yo' shit, leave me alone!...So pay respect to the black fist or we'll burn your store, right down to a crisp!" Blacks used Korean Americans as n outlet to their anger and suppression within society; based on such cultural perceptions, blacks felt justified in the terrorizing of Koreatown.

Korean Americans were strangers to their new land, as the cultural differences, such as language, customs, success, and physical appearances, were significantly different than the majority. These differences were used as fuel to the looting and arson during the six-day riot period.

What "suppression" are we talking about here? This constant drumbeat of "oppression" and "racism" are simply false and do incite violence. What is it Koreans get (or whites, etc) that blacks are denied? Perhaps it's every third word out of the their mouths being "motherfucker" that turns people off? What about the violent racial attack on Reginald Denny, a white truck driver caught on film? And it wasn't just him:

"At the same intersection, just minutes after Denny was rescued, another beating was captured on video tape. Fidel Lopez, a self-employed construction worker and Guatemalan immigrant, was pulled from his truck and robbed of nearly $2,000. (Feral Black male) Damian Williams smashed his forehead open with a car stereo as another rioter attempted to slice his ear off. After Lopez lost consciousness, the crowd spray painted his chest, torso and genitals black."

And just what special privilege did Mr. Lopez have over the black vermin that attacked him? These lazy self-inflicted losers are fed a toxic cocktail of racial envy and victimization by liberals instead of being forced to confront their own problems. So now are the Koreans and Mr. Lopez racists just because they did what blacks can do at anytime? They got a job and worked hard instead of waiting for "ma check" in the mail.

Some of the sparking people of color that attacked others:

Damian "Football" Williams, probably the best-known of the assailants, was a 19-year-old with a criminal record including arrests for auto theft and robbery but had no convictions. A football star in high school, he dreamed of becoming a professional football player and briefly played in a semi-professional league. When he was 16, he dropped out of school. He joined a gang called the "Eight Tray Gangster Crips". Williams was charged with attempted murder as well as assault and mayhem.

In 1993, Williams was convicted of mayhem and misdemeanor assault and was sentenced to 10 years. In 1997, Williams was released for good behavior but in 2003, he received a life sentence at Pelican Bay State Prison for the 2000 murder of Grover Tinner, a drug dealer. He will not be eligible for parole until he serves 47 years. (Here is a repeating pattern of arrest and release.)

Antoine "Twan" Miller was a 19-year-old who lived with the Williams family. Miller's mother was a drug addict; and as a child, Miller was sent to live with his grandmother. When he was 12, his grandmother killed his grandfather and was convicted of this murder, leaving Miller homeless. Williams' mother, well-known around the neighborhood as kind and caring, took Miller into her home. Miller's only previous arrest was for joyriding. On February 1, 2004, at the age of 31, Miller was shot and killed in a Hollywood nightclub.

Henry Keith "Kiki" Watson was a 27-year-old former U.S. Marine and an ex-convict who had served time for robbery. Fifteen years after the attacks, Watson said during an interview "Nobody specifically sought out Reginald Denny to cause him any harm. We got caught up in the moment, just like everyone else."

Gary Williams (unrelated to Damian Williams) was alleged to be a habitual crack user who was routinely reported seen at a local gas station as a beggar.

What was the "moment" he was caught up in?"

Denny stopped in the middle of the street. Antoine Miller opened the truck door, giving others the chance to pull Denny out. Another man, Henry Keith Watson, then held Denny's head down with his foot. Denny was kicked in the abdomen by an unidentified man. Two other unidentified men who had led a liquor store break-in earlier that day hurled a five-pound piece of medical equipment at Denny's head and hit him three times with a claw hammer. Damian Williams then threw a slab of concrete at Denny's head and knocked him unconscious.

Williams then did a victory dance over Denny. He then flashed gang signs at news helicopters, which were televising the events live, and pointed and laughed at Denny. Anthony Brown then spat on Denny and left with Williams. Several bystanders took pictures of Denny but did not attempt to help him. LAPD officers in the vicinity that the attack took place did not provide help to Denny.

After the beating, various men threw beer bottles at the unconscious Denny. Gary Williams approached Denny and rifled through his pockets. Lance Parker stopped near Denny and attempted to shoot the fuel tank of Denny's truck but missed.

The press doesn't want to discuss any of this unless it can be tied to white racism. If the races had been reversed and a group of whites had done this to a protected minority, we would never hear the end of it.
